ACT-ing UP Summer Camp
The Queerdos ACTing Up is an immersive 7-day workshop devised as a socio-cultural action for community strengthening and empowerment of its participants. It is open exclusively to queer-, inter-/trans-, and gender-nonconforming people interested in engaging with strategies of artivism through performing arts, creative writing and embodied transformation, established at the workshop's location.
Throughout the week, we aim to center ourselves around the theory of Queer Ecology, whilst discovering the possibilities of self-expression and togetherness. We will stand up and let our voices be heard, creating our own powerful queer chorus - a vocal poetry of resistance against the “natural” binary.
For this format, previous performative experience is not required, neither specific nor temporal: rather, we hope to work with all the diversities - of experience, of technique, of approach - in mutual nourishment, from freshness to mastery, and vice versa, by those who already have experience and those who think they 'don't know enough'.

Queer politics of community care
Within as well as outside of “coming out”, “visibility”, and “representation”, how do we as a community establish a queer politics of care that will sustain us – especially in surroundings that work towards our detriment?
Together we formulate – within our performative practice – a queer politics of care that is radical in its critique of the individual. We are always precarious, open, oozing into other bodies/stories – let us find a politics that will become our queer ceremony.
What could radical care look like and how might we establish it in our communal and artistic practices?
Queer Ecologies: Practices of healing and nourishment in resistance
Queer Ecologies proposes theories in which a community can become self-sustainable through its own set of rules and habits of nourishment. How can we achieve this? How can we move away from the hurt which has been done to our community or to us as individuals, and engage in techniques of collective healing? Can we find these techniques of collective healing elsewhere, for instance in the nature that surrounds us? Can spoken word performance be used as a medium to convey personal stories into powerful messages of anti-discrimination?
Often, we as queer people, are framed in opposition to nature or the so-called “natural law” (think reproduction, the gender binary, heteronormative patriarchal structures of society) – all the more drive we have to reclaim nature as a messy queer concept. -
Bodywork and Performance - with Cat
’’Grounded in experimenting with what is possible and beyond, we want to unlock the potential of what a non-normative body can become. You are invited to experience the queer body in relation to the natural space with the shifted perspective on nature as a co-creator (partner). Let us act towards embodied uncertainty, vulnerability, and openness as a resource for creating queer performance! ‘‘Queer Spirits - with Trace
’’Let us unleash the archive of queer spirits that have disappeared. How do we find and/or mark these queer silences that have been erased over history? How can we as queers story-tell, fabulate, perform through and with nature? We will work with our own personal and/or imaginary archive, with the nature surrounding us and performance exercises, listening, sound/music, and self-filming.’’Writing and Transformation - with Jenny
’’What stories do you want to tell, and how are they uniquely queer? How do we write them down on paper and turn them into performance? These writing sessions will help us to open up and share our stories, histories and experiences. We will explore approaches to creative writing and apply the theme of queer ecologies, learning how to use spoken word as a powerful form of expression.’’ -
